Its not often that we view boats here in the Algarve twenty miles inland, and after a journey resembling the Paris – Dakar rally we emerged into an oasis of splendour with this 20m Schooner lying center stage at her fresh water mooring. We were met by the charming couple who have owned the vessel for some seven years and now live ashore, wishing to retire from sailing gracefully. During ownership they have employed the yacht for charter, circumnavigated the globe once, crossed the Atlantic twice and clocked up five return journeys to the UK in their Ferro Concrete home. After a refreshing cup of English tea we circled the vessel and boarded her from amidships, feeling like Captain Kid boarding a bounty laden treasure ship we were not disappointed. Below deck she is a cavernous environment with up to 9.5 berths and a galley in layout and size dwarfing many luxury kitchens. It is fair to say that a certain amount of tidying will be required here and there, which the owners are planning to start during the cooler Autumn months, the wooden deck laid upon the concrete deck is in particular need of attention which is reflected in the marketed price. This vessel with a little bit of effort will make an excellent charter vessel again or significantly sized live aboard, (those six footers will find the head room limiting)once in full sail she is even more appealing and although currently securely hidden away deserves being promenaded for us all once again.
